Our boys suffered their first defeat of the tournament against the Pure Youth Construction team. Coach Goh had commented the day before that our boys only had a 20% chance of victory. True to his words, the Malaysia Men's team were unable to penetrate the impregnable Taiwanese defense and the Pure Youth team avenged last year's loss with aplomb.

The boys from Pure Youth Construction had come to play tonight, putting on their strongest players to start the game for the first time since the beginning of the tournament...

As Head Coach Tan See Wah mentioned, there will always be the pressure of expectation when playing in front of a home crowd. Perhaps that was what plagued our girls tonight.

The Chosun University boys managed to eke out their first victory after a physical game against the Philippines Pharex Bidang Generix team. The pace of the game was fast and furious, with both teams pushing the pace with a running game. The Koreans prevailed in the end and won with a score of 92-81...

The Haishan girls opened their campaign with an easy 74-36 win over Home United. Touted as an exciting match-up, the reality of the situation became clear after the first half, where the much fitter and stronger Haishan girls outscored and outrebounded the fast-tiring Home United squad.

Both teams exchanged baskets in an exciting first half. Home United team opened the game with a 3-pointer by Li Xue Ling, while the younger Haishan girls seemed jittery. The older Home United team were able rely on their experience to keep the score close in response to the fast-breaking Haishan girls...
